GIS5007 - Module 1 - Map Critique

                     Module 1 was about learning how to critique maps effectively. We learn about common map principles, identify aspects of a good/bad designed map, while providing constructive feedback and evaluation. Below are the two maps I picked that are good and bar and their following synopsis.                                               I really liked this well design map above for its uses of color choices to match the data being shown appropriately. The use of warm color matches the map theme of solar power resources. The map was effectively labeled (Commandment 3), does not include any extra unnecessary information (Commandment 4), and the map layout was thoughtful to allow the base US map to shine without any overlapping (Commandment 5). GIS5007 - Orientation - About me

                     Hello everyone, my name is Quang Nguyen. I graduated from Florida State University in 2023  with a B.S. in Geology. I currently work full-time at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in the wastewater compliance assurance program. I was able to use the FDEP tuition assistance program to pursue a certificate in ArcGIS at UWF. I choose this program because of my background in Geology. I believe GIS will have a important role in the future of the world and I want to become a part of it as I transition from my current job to a more GIS-focused role in the future. I hope to gain a lot of skills after finishing the certificate to do more environmental work that uses my Geology degree to do good for the world.
